COMMANDER'S CORNER

Congratulations to all our newly elected officers of the post for the upcoming year, helping to make another successful year for our post.

Just a reminder the voice of democracy picnic is at our post on April 20th starting at 1300 hours. I hope that all of us can come out and enjoy some fun with other Post's within our District. It really is fun and enjoyable to talk to them and see how they run their Post.

A Sock Hop is scheduled this month on the 12th. Music, trivia, laughs and more, so come out and be an oldie with all the goodies of the past.

Loyalty Day is approaching fast on the 3rd of May. We will have a picnic out back to Honor our area Fire departments and Police departments. So plan and come out to meet them and have some food and fun also with them and their families.

Our volunteer this month goes to a comrade who is always behind the scenes and doing a great job for our post in putting our post's web site together and this year putting our newsletter  on the web site along with various events that the post has. A hand shake and a hello goes to Sam Smith. Thanks Sam for all your help that you have done for me and the post.

For all that have noticed we have some new smoke emitters and air purifiers at our Post and the air and smoke has been tamed so all can breathe healthier air and the smell on our clothes is going away !

Next month we have the installation of Officers on the 10th. Hope to see a big crowd now.

In Comradeship,
Gary L. "Goose" Gander

From The President

Hello again sisters:

Well, this is the month for electing our new officers for the ensuing year. Always remember, we need our Officers to be our leaders and we need them to work for our Auxiliary. It is always great to put our friends in office, but we also need to realize if they are not workers, they can't fulfill their obligation. Hope to see everyone there to voice their opinion and to cast their vote for the candidate who will do her job without any questions or complaints. Please plan on attending!!!

Welcome to our newest members: Theresa M. Cain, Monica Christie (she is also a Veteran retired from the Marine Corps and stationed in Iraq, but chose to join our Auxiliary and her husband joined our Post), Sherry Fortier and Cindy Lynn Hall. We always welcome new members and as I have always said, we always welcome and need new volunteers. Please feel free to contact myself (Carrie 851-1632 or our steak night chairman Mary Bain 345-6265) and once again welcome and hope to see you at the meetings on the first Tuesday of each month unless otherwise informed of a change in date.

Don't forget these important upcoming dates:

April 1    - Nominations and Elections of new Officers
April 6    - COA at Headquarters in Columbia beginning 10am
April 12  - Sock Hop For Hope (Cancer and Aid Research fund raiser dance, tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling Robin Scott 200-3930 and any other info needed, Robin is available. This is a very important fund raiser, so please plan on attending)
April 13  - Hospital Visit (leaving Post 12noon, please be there, our turnout has been poor, so please plan to take a couple of hours out of your day to put a smile on our Veterans, they need us)
April 20  - Voice of Democracy Picnic and Cake Walk (we will begin eating 12PM and the cake walk will start between 1pm and 1:15pm, so ladies, please bring those cakes - the proceeds go toward scholarships so we can keep this program for our young people going.)

Watch for further information on our Mother's Day Brunch we are planning on having. Thank you again to all our sisters who keep on jumping in there and volunteering. You are always needed and so very much appreciated.

Our next meeting will be May 6th. Hope to see each and everyone there. Our term is slowing coming to an end and then we have a new term to look forward to and to help all our new Officers with anything they may need. Until the next time, see you later.

Yours in friendship and sisterhood,
Carrie

From The MOC Auxiliary

We are having some beautiful weather now, so I know we all will be having sickness in our families. Hope everyone is feeling well and you will be able to attend our meeting on April 8th .

Our hospital visits are low in attendance.  The three of us that did attend had a great time.  We even got to sing Happy Birthday to a veteran in the hospital.  We did visit a post member in Trident after finishing with the VA.  We got a lot of looks in our clown outfits.

Remember that if you do any visits to our veterans to let me know for the hospital report.  Also if you give blood, it can be reported.

We are looking forward to the installation on the 29th of March.

Thank you for another wonderful meeting.

Hugs to all,
Anna

Quartermaster's Log

The post has yet to reach 90% of its membership goal for the 2008 membership year. At the present time we stand at 89.08%, there are a few memberships in the mail that have not been picked up at National yet, but our applications for new members are not coming in as they have in the past few years. There are still many eligible for membership in our immediate area. If each of us could recruit just one new member we would be in great shape. As stated so many times before, membership is every member's business, not just the officers of the post. Elections will be held at the April meeting. Come and vote!

TOWEL HEADS

Recently I received a warning about the use of this politically incorrect term, so please note: We all need to be more sensitive in our choice of words. I have been informed that the Islamic terrorists, who hate our guts and want to kill us, do not like to be called "Towel Heads" since the item they wear on their heads is not actually a towel, but in fact, a small folded sheet. Therefore, from this point forward, please refer to them as "Little Sheet Heads." Thank you for your support and compliance on this delicate matter. ~ From Seattle, WA, FRA Branch 10 newsletter

A comment here from the Editor ~

A big kiss

to all the Ladies at the Post. Its you ladies, that put this Post on the map. It's a place to go to: wing night, spaghetti night, steak night. You work here and volunteer your time. You're excellent representatives for our Post. You're all a lot of fun to be with and I'm glad to know you.

Most of you are members of the Auxiliary, some of you are not. To learn more about the Ladies Auxiliary please visit their National Headquarters web site: ladiesauxvfw.org

If you are a member or are thinking about membership you'll learn more about the programs, benefits, and events available nationally.

What ever your circumstances are, thank you for being at the Post and being who you are. You make the place feel like a home away from home.
