COMMANDER'S CORNER

To all our Comrades and Sisters, welcome to the New Year. Hope it will be good to you as well as a prosperous one.

Our Oyster roast will be on the 19 th instead of the 12 th of January. Hope to see you Oyster lovers all here.

The Winterfest raffle was won by Bill Jasheinski. His generosity was overwhelming when he called me said he was going to donate all the food and the pig to the Low Country Foodbank including the money which he matched to help some families that need the help over the holidays. A super job Bill, for your donation.

I would like to thank Phil and Eleanor Gardner for the flag donation in our canteen and for John Bellew for making the awesome frame for it.

I also want to thank Jacquelyn Brooks for the Flag Flown in Iraq while she was stationed there. It is hanging in our soon to be Veterans Room and to Jerry Belding for making the awesome frame for it. Also one of our Post members is home safe and sound, thanks Jacquelyn.

Our post holiday festivities were really great people. The post was decorated nicely for the holidays, to all the people that made it happen a super job.

Our volunteer this month goes to a young lady whose endless hours at the post keeping it going forward with the likes of Wings and Steak nights. She's been the President of the MOCA the past two years. Her willingness to do attitude all the time has greatly impressed me and many post members. So to Anna Martin, a hardy Handshake and hello for doing, doing, and DOING.

Don't forget ya all, we are having a Super Bowl Party. See bartenders for tickets and more info.

In Comradeship,
Gary L. "Goose" Gander

From The President

Our meeting went well, the next meeting will be January 8th, 2008.

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Once again we had a full month of events that we had to take care of and once again thank you so much for your support and for making our Auxiliary always shine.  I am very proud of each and every one of you for always jumping in when or where you are needed.  The Pearl Harbor Memorial Service went very well.  We had a good turnout from our Post and if you have never attended the Service before, try to attend next year.  It was very informative and very emotional.

Next on the agenda was the District Meeting and I was so proud to stand up when they called all the Auxiliaries for roll and ours was President and 10 members, way to go ladies!!!

Thank you to Anna Martin for putting the Children's Christmas Party together.  Thank you to all who were able to be there to help Anna make it go smooth.  Our Santa was great as usual and the children had such a good time, young and old, I know I did.

I would like to send out a special thank you to Pat Keeler and her husband Dave and also a special thank you to our Chaplain Shirley Olson for running the Bingo each month. I know everyone appreciates and looks forward to seeing you monthly.  Keep up the good work.

Thank you to all who prepared food to take to the VA Hospital on the 16th December.  Unfortunately, it was the same day as our Children's Christmas Party and we had already committed to that day for the children, but I would like to say a special thank you to Sister Ruth Miller for carrying down the food prepared.

Congratulations to Jerry Belding on winning the head ach cooler. Proceeds totaling $700 will be going to Opeation Uplink, the Vets calling card.

We are 85% or maybe a little higher in Membership.  I made a mistake the month before last because the report National had sent in saying we were 95.4% was actually from June of 2007.  Make sure if you know of any members who haven't renewed their dues, please convince them to be a continuous member.  We want to be 100% before we go to the Convention in June so all our Membership Chairman who have been doing so good with reports will be eligible for awards.  Let's push that Membership.

Yours in friendship and sisterhood,
Carrie Conyers

Happy New Year

Don't you just hate it when someone talking to you gives you an Internet address: "h t t p , colon, backslash baskslash, double you, double you, double you". Whew ! Then they get to the good stuff: "craigslist" and hopefully they spell it out for you, you need that "s" in "craigs". "Yeah right, followed by dot com". "Nope, its dot o r g ". It took awhile, when was the last time you saw an Internet address advertised starting off with: http:// Its been awhile and your seeing less of the www in an Internet address ad. Why? Because all internet addresses start off with http://www.

If you don't have a computer, access to the Internet or don't feel comfortable with it check out the library. They've got PC's with Internet access and people more than happy to help.

A toast

Please join me in remembering a great icon. The Pillsbury Dough boy is rumored in various places on the Internet to have died of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Dough boy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Dough boy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded.

Dough boy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions.

Dough boy is survived by his wife Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart.

The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

Please rise to the occasion, in memory of Dough boy, and share this notice with some one who may be having a crumby day and kneads it.
